Color changes are a bigger job than they sound

Changing a vehicle's color properly means the parts nobody photographs: door jambs, the hood underside, trunk and hatch openings, the areas behind bumper covers. Skip those and the original color shows every time a door opens, which is the difference between a color change and a paint job over the top of one.

That means real disassembly. It is why a proper color change costs what it does, and why we would rather talk you out of one than deliver the shortcut version.

Worth knowing before you commit: a color that no longer matches the VIN plate can affect resale. Some buyers do not care and some walk away.

Two-tone, accents, and one-off work

Roof and pillar contrasts. Accent panels. Stripes and graphics laid in paint instead of vinyl, which costs more up front and does not lift at the edges after three winters. Wheels refinished to match or deliberately contrast.

Choosing the color

Bring inspiration. Photographs, a chip, another vehicle you saw. We will spray sample cards and look at them outdoors in Vermont daylight, which is not what a fluorescent-lit chart shows you. Metallics and pearls in particular look like a different color entirely under a grey February sky than under showroom lighting.

Timeline

Custom work occupies a booth longer than collision work, so it gets scheduled rather than squeezed in. Quieter winter months are often the easiest time to book it.
